Wow! that is a bargain! Congratulations. Our Samantha mattress is more white than an unbleached muslin. But I wouldn't call it a crisp white.

Now the mom in me recommends to follow the washing instructions. 20 years can create a lot of dust. I'm allergic to dust and so is DD. I'd definitely recommend some laundering to shake out the dust bunnies.

Then after it dries, make sure Samantha and Nellie jump on the bed to fluff it up!!!

My Samantha bed has the muslin mattress, and it's from 1994. Don't know if that helps, but congrats!!!!!!!!

I just found Samantha's bed at a neighborhood yard sale with the comforter, pillow and mattress all in perfect condition for $20. The AG site states that the mattress is "soft white", this mattress is an unbleached muslin, has the double tag that states "made in China 1995Pleasant Co. Hand Wash etc." I know the date doesn't really date it, the bed belonged to the 20 yo daughter who just wanted to get rid of some AG things.
Did I find an early edition bed? I do know I found a bargain tho.
